This is a slide show of our kitchen remodel. My husband and I started this project in March of 2008 and just finished it at the end of May. We did all the work ourselves and saved a lot of money, I did the electrical, plumbing, flooring and tiling and my husband designed and made the cabinets, installed the solid surface countertops and sink put in the crown molding, etc…. and we did the rest together. I also put new flooring in the rest of the house except the bedrooms and we painted and put crown molding througout. We also put in a gas fireplace, a pocket door, new trim on all the doors and a new french door. I installed recessed lighting in our family room as well. Next we will tackle the bathroom….stay tuned.

DIY Photo Bleach: Altered Imagery

This is an altered image technique I learned while taking IB art in high school. It’s pretty easy to get the hang of it and it makes for an awesome effect.
You need:
A photo, of course. bleach, a kitchen or bathroom sink, a small tray or tupperware container, and gloves! For the photo bleach resistance you will need clear nail polish or some other medium that will dry clearly and protect the photo.
NOTE: I have never tried this with print-at-home photos!
ALL photos in this video were taken by me. Some were featured in the Tampa Museum of Art in 2007 for a student exhibit.

DIY Diamond Plate Bathroom Design

Liven-up any small bathroom in a way that’s completely reversible. It starts where the Diamond Plate Splash Guard video ends, by adding black Avery Graphic pin stripes along the edges and installing them in all 4 corners. Then using the vinyl covered moulding to frame a medicine cabinet, border along the top edge of the shower, and using the scraps to cover the face plates. All the looks of real diamond plate, but without any mess, expense, weight, hard work, and most importantly, it was quick and easy.
